Saluting the Journey to a New Life (Sci-Fi) 7 and 8

"Come on, let's take on the ultimate Boss together," the steadiness in Abraham's voice brought me a moment's peace.

I nodded my acknowledgment and inhaled deeply. "Alright, I'm prepared. Victory will be mine, and I'll escape this accursed game world!"

"The final coordinates indicate that the Boss is beneath the Red Shield Bar," Abraham informed.

I followed him into a dimly lit corridor underneath the bar, the walls adorned with faintly burning torches.

"Be cautious, we're about to encounter the Boss," Abraham cautioned.

I gave a silent nod, fighting to keep my nerves in check.

We traversed the corridor and emerged into a capacious underground square.

This was an entirely sealed chamber, with no doors or windows to be seen.

"Here it comes!" Abraham cried out all of a sudden.

I looked up to see the center of the square's ground gently descending, revealing a colossal shadow rising slowly from below.

A creature of obsidian hue with six tentacles unfurled before us!

Sparks of violet electricity crackled over its form, its solitary eye fixated on us, exuding an aura of profound terror!

With impeccable synchrony, Abraham and I manoeuvred apart, poised for battle.

Drawing my electromagnetic spring laser knife, I charged at the behemoth.

The tentacles lashed out wildly; I dodged with agility, scaling the creature's neck.

I targeted the abyss-like eye and plunged my blade into it!

With a piercing roar, the beast flailed, its head rearing back; I scrambled away just in time to evade its furious counterattack.

Meanwhile, Abraham activated his wrist-mounted holographic projection screen:

"Hurry and think! In 60 seconds, mouths will sprout all over its body, pulling everything into a mass vacuum that will engulf our entire vicinity."

What? Only a minute to spare?

With my mind racing, I launched into a frenzied assault, slashing at the creature's body amidst its tempest of tentacle strikes!

Half a minute had already slipped by.

I had managed to sever a tentacle without seeing any other sign of progress.

"There's only thirty seconds left! Push harder!" Abraham urged with desperation.

With teeth gritted, I searched for any flaw amidst the onslaught of the raging beast.

Fifteen seconds remained when inspiration struck me—I leveraged the momentum of the beast's assault to catapult upward, honing in on a fissure where its neck joined the torso and delivering a devastating strike!

"Crash!" Accompanied by a resounding boom, I cleaved through the hide of the monster, sending scarlet lifeblood spraying! With a heart-wrenching bellow, it began to fracture and rupture!

"We've prevailed!" I exclaimed triumphantly, exchanging a celebratory high-five with Abraham.

Before our eyes, the monster's form shattered into shimmering stardust, dissolving into the ether.

"That's fantastic, we've vanquished it!" exclaimed Abraham, his face alight with exhilaration.

At that moment, a profound tremor began to permeate the subterranean chamber.

A wave of vertigo washed over me, my head spinning and my limbs unsteady.

"The exit's opening; we need to get out now!" Abraham clutched my hand, and we sprinted towards a large door at the far end of the plaza.

A tide of emotion swelled within me—I was on the brink of escaping this nightmarish ordeal!

We burst through the plaza and into a colossal chamber outside the bar's back entrance, a sight entirely new to my eyes.

It was akin to a ring-shaped dock, lined with an array of bizarrely designed flying vessels.

"Have we returned to the long-awaited real world?" I gasped in astonishment.

"No, we are still within the confines of the game," Abraham clarified, "Defeating the Boss may have simply catapulted us into the next chapter. Our quest must continue, deeper into the virtual labyrinth, in search of a path back to tangible reality."

With that, he ushered me aboard a sleek silver spacecraft named "Zhen."

The Zhen came to life and joined its fellow craft, gliding away from the dock and into the starless void of space.

"We'll keep navigating by the script's compass," Abraham advised me.

I watched, spellbound, through the viewport as we made our way through an immense galactic passage.

The corridor's walls pulsed with rhythmic bands of light, evoking a tableau straight out of a sci-fi tableau.

"Could this splendor be the Milky Way? The spectacle is breathtaking!" I couldn't help but be enamored.

"Our precise whereabouts are uncertain, yet the environmental readouts indicate we're traversing a construct akin to a virtual galaxy," Abraham imparted.

After about fifteen minutes of travel, our ship decelerated and began the process of docking with the colossal space station's port.

"Attention all passengers: prepare for imminent boarding and security checks."

The ship's intercom crackled with the sterile voice of an automated attendant. Abraham and I joined the procession to the exit, aligning with a diverse queue of “passengers”—a mix of human and curious alien forms.

We swiftly approached a chamber bathed in sterile white light.

A line of humanoid robots, garbed in white and void of expression, stood sentinel.

The foremost extended its palms toward my forehead—

"Remain still for the safety scan."

A thin beam of azure light pierced my gaze, a tide of dizziness ensuing.

The sensation was akin to an invisible intruder rifling through my mind’s private chambers...

Saluting the Journey to a New Life (Sci-Fi) 15 and 16 15 "You're not real!" I yelled, swinging my fist in anger! At that instant, from the nape of my neck, there came a faint 'thud' as if a cable had been snapped away. Then, just as quickly, the vision of numbers and codes that filled my view vanished— "What on earth is happening?" I looked around in shock. But then it was as though nothing had happened; Dr. Brian was there before me, his expression etched with worry. "Calm down, Jack. You're just coming to," he said, his voice tinged with reassurance. At that point, a female doctor wearing a red dress entered through the door to the hospital room... Her silhouette was hazy yet strangely familiar — a déjà vu I couldn't shake off. My mind was a whirlwind, struggling to place her. Fixated on the woman in red, my thoughts whirled at breakneck speed. She had to be the same person I had met within the game, so what was she doing here, in t

Saluting the Journey to a New Life (Sci-Fi) 17 and 18 17 After a brief spell of vertigo, I found myself transported to a domain of shimmering lights and shadows. It appeared to be saturated with endless data and electronic signals, constituting an immense network of information. "What is this complex realm?" I wondered aloud, awestruck. "You're looking at the core architecture of the game world's data. Consider it the backbone supporting the entirety of this space," Abraham elucidated. Acknowledging with a nod, I recalled having witnessed a similar construct when Sophie had previously ushered me into the system's core zone. Yet this time, the expanse was far more majestic, almost boundless, conjuring images of star-filled galaxies in my mind. "This is where I pinpointed the origin of the issue," said Abraham, guiding me to the presence of a staggering data waterfall. The cascade of information, resplendent like a galaxy folding upon itself, a

Saluting the Journey to a New Life (Sci-Fi) 13 and 14 13 "In reality, the world has indeed crumbled at the brink of the apocalypse, yet we've managed to preserve human consciousness," whispered Sophie with an enigmatic smile before switching to another surveillance feed. Displayed on the screen was a massive spherical experimentation chamber, within which countless human beings were afloat! With tubes attached, they were gently adrift, preserved as if specially curated for posterity! "This represents the second aspect of the Fang Yu Initiative—harnessing cryopreservation technology, I've saved the cerebral cortex of two thousand individuals!" My eyes grew wide, fixated on the screen where humans were conserved in such a peculiar manner. They've been housed in these cryo-chambers for years, leaving only their brain tissues, which machines are struggling to maintain. This represents the final beacon of hope for human civilization! "My ambition is to
